The course is open to both those with experience, and those without any experience at all in dog training.

Each class will be limited to twelve participants with one dog each. Participants are to bring their own or a borrowed dog for the practical days. The course practical days will address and progress the current level of individual handlers and their dogs. Therefore, professional Dog Handlers and Trainers can work on improving their own skills and those of their dog/s. Beginner handlers and dogs will be introduced to training aspects. Other handlers and their dogs who may have some experience and skills already will progress from their current level. Problem solving will apply to all.

Each handler/dog team will be progressed at their own individual pace. Handlers will need a good level of literacy and IT ability and be self-motivated and disciplined. Handlers will need a reasonable level of fitness and be free of injuries or health conditions that might impede participation in practical events. If unsure, consultation with personal General Practitioner should be sought.

Certificates of Attendance will be issued to participants that attend all practical training sessions in their entirety. Practical training sessions will take place at Calabash Boarding Kennels and Cattery, located at 27 Calabash Road, Arcadia, NSW.

Participants must own a dog or have ready access to a borrowed dog, for completion of various practical tasks, both during the practical training sessions and at home, between sessions.

Dogs attending practical sessions at Calabash must have a C5 Vaccination Certificate and be free of parasites

Handlers will nominate their target odour and supply sufficient quantities for their practical training sessions.

Steve will provide advice and instruction during the live webinar in regard to storage and transportation of the target odour.

Participants will be given access to all course material online via our student portal before the course commences.

This will include recordings of subject sessions, power-point presentations, session support notes, links to various applicable footage and various print resources.

This portion of the course is self-delivered by the individual participants – it will require a good level of self motivation and discipline. Subjects must be completed prior to attendance at the practical days.

A minimum of 15 hours will be required to complete the online course materials and required reading. Additional personal research is also recommended.

It is necessary that participants own a dog or have ready access to a borrowed dog, for completion of various practical tasks, at practical sessions. Dogs attending Calabash must have a C5 Vaccination Certificate and be free of parasites.

There will be four practical days in total.

Participants must attend every practical day in entirety, to be eligible to receive certificate of attendance on completion. Specific dates for practical days will be provided at time of enrolment.

Once enrolled, requests for deferment to later practical dates, for any reason, will incur a fee.

Participants must wear freshly laundered, neat and tidy clothing that will comply with WH&S standards

A deposit of $500 will hold a place in an upcoming scheduled course, with the remaining balance falling due two weeks before the commencement date of the class.

The deposit will be forfeited where less than two weeks’ notice of cancellation is provided.

Changing or deferring of practical days is problematic as we have based our financial structure on having twelve handler/dog teams in each practical session. We have aimed to keep practical classes to a maximum of twelve handler/dog teams to ensure a good learning experience for all.

We hope you understand that requests to change or defer practical dates will incur fee/s:

Request to defer all four practical dates:

• If a replacement can be found for the cancelled practical days, a fee of $440 (inc GST) will be applicable in order to transfer to later practical days.

• If a replacement cannot be found for the cancelled practical days, a fee of $693 (inc GST) will be applicable in order to defer to later practical days.

• Non-attendance or cancellation, without attendance at a later date, does not incur a fee. A refund will not apply.

Non-attendance of individual practical days due to sickness, Etc:

• All practical training sessions must be attended in their entirety in order to receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Attending the missed day/s with a later group will be dependent on availability and will incur a fee of $693 (inc GST) per day.

Refunds
Cancellation of enrolment in the course and full refund of course fees paid, are available up to two weeks prior to the commencement date of the course.

The course commencement date will be approximately two months before the first practical session.

Full or part refund will not be considered after the commencement date and/or after access to course materials has been provided.

Participants will be eligible to receive a Certificate of Attendance (there will not be any assessments) from Austins’ Dog Training Education (Steve and Vicki Austin) when all practical training sessions have been attended in their entirety.
